Just Sayin’

So… phrases are like songs are to me. They create a time warp back to the person who said something that stuck in my head. So here’s the quirky side of me. Where you might give me that sideways look that my dog Cosmo gives me when I talk to him. But bear with me… Here goes…

“Moisty” Way back when… this phrase should’ve been a clue to me that my then-boyfriend, Dan, rested his eyes in English class like he does at church. Ok, so he said that he likes his food “moisty” ?!? I was like… Is that even a word? What he really meant was that he likes LOTS of ketchup. On everything! “Moisty”

“You can’t soar with the Eagles in the mornin’ if you hoot with the Owls all night!” This one was one I picked up working the front desk at the bank. The tellers had had lots of one liners (some can’t be repeated) but this one of Jill’s stuck! (I tend to hoot with the owls too much!)

“You git whatcha git and you don’t throw a fit” This is one that Reed came home from preschool with recently. It has a catchy ring to it and is super funny when Reed busts it out.

Reed is getting used to hearing a saying I picked up from a friend in High School. It goes something like this “What you want and what you get are two different things.” Reed, being 4, wants a lot. He’s starting to understand that… just because he wants something, it doesn’t mean he’s going to get it.
